Success Story: Abby, Beagle Pain Syndrome and Colostrum-38
Susan Conner writes to us about how Colostrum-38 helped Abby, a dog struggling with Beagle Pain Syndrome
My one-year-old beagle Abby was diagnosed in January with Beagle Pain Syndrome, which is a genetic autoimmune disorder. The vet prescribed a treatment of prednisone.
In March, I reached out to Tigger for suggestions and she recommended that I supplement her diet with Colostrum-38. Once I felt it was safe to give it to Abby while she was on prednisone, I gave it to her twice daily starting in April, just to get it into her system and build her up. She finished her prednisone treatment on April 10.
A few days after her prednisone treatment ended, we had to take Abby back to the vet, because she was obviously in pain. She could not get her head down to her bowl to eat, and she walked very stiffly. The vet told me that after prednisone treatments, they are normally OK, and he thinks she had a relapse because she was not on it long enough the first time.
But, we followed up two days later with a veterinary neurologist who suggested keeping her off the prednisone and waiting to see if she developed more specific symptoms. If she did, then she’d get a spinal tap to see if she had SRM (steroid-responsive meningitis); if that was negative, then we’d do an MRI to see if there was disc injury.
Meanwhile, Abby continued getting her colostrum twice a day. As of May 26, she has not developed anymore symptoms! I know without a doubt that the colostrum was what did it.
