I’m a Raving Fan of Kaneka Ubiquinol®

As a formulator, I work with many types of raw materials, and I certainly have my favorites:

Each of these ingredients has its own unique vibration, energy, smell, and life force.

New favorite

Adding to my list of favorites is BioStar’s newest ingredient: Kaneka Ubiquinol®. This active antioxidant form of Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) continually surprises me with its actions and benefits.

Kaneka Ubiquinol® logo | BioStar USNot only is Kaneka Ubiquinol® made through the yeast fermentation process, it is also more bioavailable than its competitors, like Ubiquinol USP, which is 100% synthetic. We, at BioStar, would never incorporate the synthetic form of any nutrient in our formulations.

Kaneka Ubiquinol® has a strong and confident vibe. I know that’s an odd thing to remark on, but some ingredients just stand out vibrationally. For example, rose hips have a happy vibration; when I walk down the raw materials storage aisles and open the container, it feels like the rose hips are saying, “Pick me, pick me!

Trying Kaneka Ubiquinol® on dogs

For some horses, CoQ10 goes to work very quickly. In other horses, the effects can take more time to appear. Regardless, nearly all the horses we beta tested on our NEW! Phoenix Q10™ antioxidant complex with Kaneka Ubiquinol® experienced benefits.

I recently began testing it on one of my own dogs, Wookie. After just one dose, there was an obvious and riveting difference.

Tigger's Aussie, Wookie | BioStar USWookie is an eight year old Australian Shepherd. When she was two years old, her hips and elbows were radiographed for OFA certification (from the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals): her hips were rated “good,” but her elbows were Grade 2, displaying moderate dysplasia. I subsequently had her spayed.

Despite these findings, her elbows have not presented her any issues until the last six months, with the right one being worse for wear than the left one. She’s been kept fairly sound and comfortable through specific supplementation of krill oil, Voltrex™, and BioStar’s Juvenate K9™ and Trinity K9™, along with somewhat limiting her activity (after all, she is a farm dog that likes to work, i.e. run the show).

I then began adding ¼ mL of Phoenix Q10™ in cream cheese twice per day… It was as if she were a puppy again: leaps, bounds, “full of the beans,” and happy, happy, happy.

The trials continued on another Aussie, a 13-year-old named Cake Walk. Cakey, as we call her, was my partner Peter’s dog. She has had a tough time emotionally since his passing last May, getting creakier and stiffer with each passing day. She has also been having shrieking episodes in the middle of the night in response to the sounds of critters moving about outside, whether real or imagined. Of course, once Cakey gets barking, the rest of the pack (three other Aussies) naturally join in, running from door to door while barking at the mysterious, potential intruder. These episodes are quite jolting, and they often happen two or three times a night. Let me tell you: it is not a sing-song fest or a lovely howling chorus.

Some studies suggest that CoQ10 may help reduce anxiety, and after the first day of receiving Phoenix Q10™ (¼ mL twice per day), she slept through the night.

Lastly, we tried Phoenix Q10™ on another Australian Shepherd (this one not owned by myself). This young, 3-year-old dog was healing from a soft tissue injury, and administering a half dose at night was a literal eye opener: he wanted to party all night long. So, only a morning dose for him from then on!

*Important note: Phoenix Q10™ is formulated for the unique biology of horses and should not be given to dogs unless supervised by a professional or veterinarian.

I love the versatility of Kaneka Ubiquinol®

This powerful antioxidant has wide applications for health in horses and dogs:

It provides supportive therapy for horses with equine protozoal myeloencephalitis (EPM), Lyme disease, uveitis, and laminitis.

It can be beneficial for horses with metabolic disease and senior horses who produce less CoQ10 than younger horses.

  It modulates inflammatory pathways.

It can ameliorate vascular dysfunction, which helps with chronic obstructive pulmonary disorder (COPD), muscle oxygenation, and impaired wound healing.

It recycles vitamin E and vitamin C.

Unfortunately, Kaneka’s Ubiquinol® can’t give any of our animals the power of immortality, but it most certainly can provide support for our animals to thrive.
