Team BioStar Welcomes New Rider Charlotte McLaughlin
BioStar is pleased to announce its newest addition to Team BioStar, Charlotte McLaughlin. Charlotte currently competes in the junior jumper circuit at 1.20m with her horse, Bronan. Beginning her riding career in 2011 in the Hunter Ring, Charlotte quickly moved through the ranks aboard It’s Coolman, finishing with her team as Reserve Champion in the Children’s Hunter Division at The Royal Winter Fair. With a desire to jump higher and faster, Charlotte entered the jumper ring in 2017 with Bronan. She represented Canada at the 2018 North America Youth Championships at Old Salem Farm winning team Gold and individual Silver. She is also the 2018 Canadian Champion at the Royal Winter Fair. Charlotte and Bronan train and compete with internationally renowned show jumpers Ian, Jonathan, Amy and Kelly of Team Millar in Perth, Ontario. When she isn’t taking top placings in the jumper ring, Charlotte excels in her academic career and has an array of hobbies. Learn more about this dynamic young lady and why she chooses BioStar.
What motivates you to ride?
My motivation to ride is my love of horses, and the connection that I have developed with my partners. I also love the thrill of competition, and all the hard work that goes into being successful.
Do you remember the first time you rode a horse?
The first time I sat in a horse I was 2 years old at a birthday party. The first time I rode a horse I was 7, and at a summer camp…. the rest was history.
Describe your horse, Bronan in 3 words
He is loyal, trusting, and incredibly brave.
What drew you to BioStar products?
I am a firm believer in anything naturopathic, in fact, my sister is a naturopathic doctor!
Why is Alixir your favorite product?
Ever since I started to use this product, I’ve noticed that my horse is drinking more water, and has more strength and power during competition and is overall a happier horse.
Who is one of your heroes?
I have more than one hero. I am living my dream by being surrounded by the Millar family. They display discipline, hard work, determination, and grit… all of the qualities that I aspire to have. They have taught me so much about not only riding, but life too.
What are your other hobbies when not in the jumper ring?
I enjoy outdoor activities such as ATV riding and Boating. I also have my co-pilots License, so flying is another hobby that I enjoy. I spend a lot of my time volunteering at the Peeps Foundation and other organizations that are dear to my heart.
If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go?
I would go to Italy because of the Architecture, History, and of course the Food!
One place you would like to pilot to?
One place that I would like to pilot to is the Bahamas. I think that flying over the water and islands would be beautiful.
What is your favorite school subject?
I actually have two favorite subjects; math and art. The reason I love these is because it allows me to use different parts of my brain; one allows me to be a critical thinker, and the other allows me to be creative.
What do you want to be when you grow up?
When I grow up I want to be an Architect. I would also like to be a professional rider competing in the Nations Cups, Olympics and 5* Grand Prix.
What is your favorite sport outside of riding?
One of my favorite sports other than riding is Golf.
What is your favorite food or meal?
My favorite food is Italian, and my favorite plate is Gnocchi!
Who is your favorite singer or band?
My favorite band is U2! I not only love their music, but their selflessness and willingness to give so much to the world through the organizations they support.
